Welcome To The Queens Own Scale Model Warship Club Website
Scirocco sinking again 2007
If you are interested in building and fighting high quality radio controlled 1/72nd scale model ships, then you have come to the right place.
This month we are featuring Bert's Z-38, scratch built as all of our ships are.  He recently completed it and is in process of readying it for it's first battle.

Queens Own Scale Model Warship Club

Welcome to our club's home page.

To introduce ourselves we will present selected passages from Section One of our rulebook. This will give you some insight into our organization and some idea about the things we think are important.

  • The Queen's Own is an independent scale model warship club.

  • The purpose of the club is to build and operate scale warships of the highest possible quality. The following are basic requirements for club membership: Each member must own and operate at least one 1/72nd scale naval vessel known to have sailed as a member of a naval formation during the period of 1900 to 1945, Each member must be at least 12 years of age, All prospective members must be recommended by an active member.

  • Applications from prospective members will voted on at the next club meeting following the date they are received. Approval for membership will constitute a seventy five percent (75%) affirmative vote of the members present at the meeting. Prospective members may participate in club functions while waiting formal acceptance.

  • It must be understood that the primary goal of this club is to build and operate scale warships; not to fight boats. To this end, the rules in this book are written. It is not intended these rules be all encompassing. In this organization, the spirit, and intention of a rule is held to be binding. The principles of leadership, responsibility, fairness, and accountability govern this club. At no time will parliamentary procedure or rules of order be invoked to subvert these principles. Using loop holes to beat the system is not considered to be fair and honest participation.

You can see from the above we run a pretty serious straight forward organization. We have a fair amount of money invested in our models and take great pride in the quality of our fleet. We operate all classes of vessels from PT Boats through Heavy Cruisers. We even have one fully combat operational submarine. Although we are primarily a Pacific Northwest organization we do have members from other regions. In addition we sponser many affiliated clubs and are active in helping other clubs in all scales get started

This in not an inexpensive hobby. The cost to put a combat ready three gun Destroyer on the pond is around $700. Battle damage repair, maintenance and ammunition make the operating costs around $50 to $75 per year. All though our ships are scratch built the process is within the capability of most modelers. New members are guided through the process of building, arming and combat maneuvering by the more experienced members of their fleet.
