SCALE SPEED

Vessels undergoing speed certification must run the trials with fresh, fully charged batteries. The speed gate is the prefered method for checking speed.

The following chart will show the number of seconds a ship should take to travel 100 feet in a straight line at its scale speed. A timed run will be done in two directions back-to-back. The average of the two runs will used.

Convoy ships will sail at 25 knots.

Slower 721 Class vessles may increase speed to 30 knots.
