COMBAT AWARDS
CAPTAIN'S PENNANT
Combat pennants designating the battle experience of the ship's Captain may
be flown from the port outboard halyard. The number of vertical colored bands
will indicate the number of sorties the Captain has fought.
The basic pennant color is white. The white pennant may be flown after a
Captain has fought one sortie in command of a ship.
For each ten sorties one red band may be added. For fifty sortied one light
blue band may be added. For one hundred sorties one gold band may be added.
The pennant should be constructed of white paper 1/2 inch high and 1 1/4
inches long. This is the approximate scale size of a signal pennant. The color
bars should be approximately 3/16 inches wide. More than one pennant may be
carried if necessary.
The Captain's Pennant count will start at the zero sortie count at the
opening of the 2000 season.
